Introduction to Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links

If you're reading this, you may or may not have heard about Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links, but don’t know what exactly what it is. If you’re looking to learn about Duel Links, look no further!

What Exactly is Duel Links?

Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links is a free to play mobile Yu-Gi-Oh game. The game’s general plot and concept is that Seto Kaiba, president of the Kaiba Corporation, created a virtual dueling word (much like the Vrains from the new anime) for duelists all around the globe to compete for the title of Duel King/Queen. At the beginning of the game, players choose to play as either Yami Yugi or Seto Kaiba. After a brief tutorial, you will then be allowed to duel Standard Duelists and Legendary Duelists (NPCs) around the Duel World to gain EXP and more rewards. As you complete missions you will advance to higher Stages, unlocking new playable characters in the process. The most unique thing about the game is that each character has their own special skills that effect the duel and can be activated at specific times of the duel. Some skills make you start with a field spell activated, some increase your starting life points. Those are just the basic ones; there are much, much more.

Format

Unlike the TCG, Duel Links uses the special Speed Duel format. The rules of this format are: decks are limited to 20-30 cards, with 0-5 card Extra Decks. Both players start off with 4000 life points, and the monster and spell/trap zones are limited to three instead of five. There is no Main Phase 2, Synchro Monsters, Xyz Monsters, Pendulum Monsters, or Link Monsters as of right now, but they may be introduced to the game in the future. As of right now, there are no Match Duels; all duels are single games.

How Do I get Cards?

There are a few different ways to unlock cards in Duel Links. The first and foremost way is by buying Card Packs from the shop. Card Packs can be purchased through gems or with real cash. Secondly, we have the Card Trader. By exchanging in gold and stones, you can obtain cards from the Card Trader. The Card Trader restocks with different cards every eight hours, so be sure to check three times a day! The third way to unlock cards is by defeating Legendary Duelists. You may also obtain cards by leveling characters up, the Card Flipper campaigns, and special event rewards.

What are you waiting for?

Now that you know about the game, it's time you bust out your duel disk and enter the virtual world of Duel Links! As a wise man once said, get your game on!
